Mujahid rules out IEA collapse due to cash crisis

KABUL (Pajhwok): There is no threat to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan collapsing as a result of economic straits, the IEA chief spokesman says.

Zabihullah Mujahid rejected as incorrect a recent report from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) that predicted the collapse of the current system due to cash constraints.

Mujahid tweeted on Wednesday the IEA was not reliant on foreign assistance alone. He ruled out the fall of the system due to economic hardships.

“Of course, any country that has experienced such a long war and invasions will suffer economic problems for some time,” he wrote.

However, the spokesman insisted, the Islamic Emirate was doing its best to rebuild Afghanistan’s economy. Over the last 18 months, efforts had been made to address the economic crisis, he said.
