NEILI (Pajhwok): Heavy snowfall and storms have closed the Qonaq Pass in central Daikundi province for traffic and the curvy roads to Bamyan and Kabul provinces, a public works official said on Thursday.
The pass connects the Meramor district of Daikundi with the Waras town of Bamyan province.
Public Works Director Lal Mohammad Yousufi confirmed due to heavy overnight snowfall and storms the route had been closed for traffic.
He asked drivers to avoid travelling the route for safety reasons until further announcement by officials concerned.
The snow that started falling in Daikundi last night continued till filing of this report.
The Qonaq Pass is one of the busy and impassible routes in Daikundi, witnessing occasional traffic snarls.
