Kabul announces aid for Turkish, Syrian quake victims

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) has announced humanitarian aid for the quake-hit people of Turkey and Syria.

On Tuesday, the caretaker government pledged a total of 15 million afghanis ($166,000) in aid to the quake-affected nations.

Ten million afghanis ($111,000) will go to Turkey and 5 million afs to Syria, according to a statement from the Foreign Ministry.

The Islamic Emirate stood in solidarity with Syrian and Turkish brothers and sisters, the ministry said, adding Afghan emergency response and health teams, of asked, were ready to participate in rescue operations.

The Afghan diplomatic mission in Turkey was directed to do all it could to assist the victims. Afghan citizens in Turkey were also urged to help with relief efforts.
