Leadership to be blamed for compromising on independence: Dilawar

KABUL (Pajhwok): Top acting government officials has said that the people of Afghanistan never accepted slavery and if the nation ever lost its independence it was due to the leadership.

They made the remarks during a ceremony marking the 34th anniversary of former Soviet Union forces withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Shaikh Shahabuddin Dilawar, acting minister for mines and petroleum, said people get their independence and if it ever loses its independence it would be because of their leadership.

“Independence is gained with the support of the masses and individuals who get to power misusing the emotions of its people compromise on its independence,” he said.

He added maintenance and retaining of independence belonged to the leadership of a nation.

Acting Defence Minister Mullah Mohammad Yaqoub said: “Those trying to divide people should know that the people of Afghanistan were fully aware and got the experience to analyse the past.”

“The people of Afghanistan never accepted the slavery of major power and defeated them,” he claimed.

Mullah Yaqoub urged all the people should support the current regime so that the past bitter experiences shall not repeat.

Acting Foreign Minister Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi said the world could not digest the progress of Afghanistan asking the people of Afghanistan to pay attention to this point.

“After 44 year there isn’t one inch of land in Afghanistan which should be in the control of any other force, world cannot digest this progress of Afghanistan,” he claimed.

He said in every part of Afghanistan where Daesh surfaces it would be suppressed.

“We want positive economic, trade and diplomatic relations with the world,” the acting foreign minister said.
