Hassan appointed as Afghanistan’s bowling coach

KABUL (Pajhwok): Tight-arm quickie Hamid Hassan has been appointed as the new bowling coach of Afghanistan’s national cricket squad.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) announced his appointment on Wednesday, saying Hassan would retire as a player.

Born in 1987, h will take over as the bowling coach before the start of the three-match T20I series between Afghanistan and Pakistan in the UAE later this month.

In a statement from ACB, Hasan said he felt honored to have the opportunity to serve as the bowling coach of the national team.

“I have enjoyed every bit of my playing career with this team, and the opportunity to work with our young bowling group is something I am looking forward to.”

Hassan has represented Afghanistan in 38 ODIs from 2009 to 2019, grabbing 59 wickets. He also played 25 T20Is for Afghanistan, taking 35 wickets.

In their first-ever T20 series, Afghanistan and Pakistan will play three games from March 25 to 29 in Sharjah.
