208 more Afghan nationals released from Pakistani prisons

KABUL (Pajhwok): About 208 more Afghan nationals have been released from jails in Pakistan’s Sindh province, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said on Saturday.

Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal, deputy spokesman for the MoFA, tweeted that 208 Afghan prisoners were released on Friday from the jails of Sindh province following efforts of the embassy and Afghan Consulate in Karachi.

Takal wrote that the released prisoners deported to the country with the caretaker government bearing the transportation expenses.

According to the ministry, more than 2,000 Afghan prisoners released from Pakistani jails and deported to Afghanistan so far.

Without providing details, the source added, still some Afghan nationals were behind bars in Pakistan.
