KABUL (Pajhwok): Abdullah Al Mutairi is expected to take over as the new head coach of the Afghanistan national football squad in the near future.
A renowned Kuwaiti soccer manager, he could accompany the national side to the 2023 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers, Bakhtar News Agency reported on Thursday.

Al Mutairi replaces Anoush Dastgir, who was sacked in the wake of Afghanistan’s poor showing in recent events.
A camp for national team selection will be organised in Kabul. Aspiring footballers, who are outside of Afghanistan, will also attend the camp.
