Infectious diseases hospital starts functioning in Kunduz

KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): A 50-bed hospital for infectious diseases including Covid-19 has started functioning in northern Kunduz province, an official said on Thursday.

Meanwhile, local residents welcomed the development and urged the government to control infectious diseases including Covid-19.

Najibullah Sahil, Kunduz public health director, said the residents of Takhar, Badakhshan and Baghlan could also benefit from services at the new hospital.

He added the hospital was established with financial support of the Agha Khan Foundation and would provide services on zone level.

Ministry of Public Health’s economic affairs director Rasool Mangal said that efforts were underway to build more such hospitals.

He said laparoscopy, arthroscopy sections and laboratory would be start functioning in the hospital in future.

Sultan Aziz, a resident of Kunduz said, as the hospital was built for the zone, the government should upgrade it to 100-bed.
