43 Afghans brought home from Sudan: MoFA

KABUL (Pajhwok): The first group of 43 Afghans, who were evacuated to Saudi Arabia from conflict-hit Sudan, reached Kabul on Friday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

MoFA deputy spokesman Zia Ahmad Takal wrote on his Twitter page that the Afghans were able to return home with the help of Saudi Arabia and after continuous efforts.

The Afghans were brought to the country on a state-owned Ariana Afghan Airlines flight.

“These Afghans were transferred from Sudan to the Saudi city of Jeddah a few days ago,” said Takal.

He said MoFA was trying to evacuate all Afghans stranded in Sudan.

About two weeks ago, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Maulvi Amir Khan Muttaqi said that about 120 Afghans were trapped in the war in Sudan and efforts were being made to evacuate them.
