Saddam Hussain, another resident of Taloqan city, said: “When I cross any road in Taloqan city, I cover may nose with a handkerchief or use mask due to bad smell from chicken shops. The municipality must come up with a solution to this issue, otherwise the environment will be further polluted and people will contract different illnesses”.

The chicken sellers said they were ready to be relocated. They said if they were provided a suitable, they would move there and it would address people’s complaints about pollution.

Bazar, one of the chicken sellers, said: “It will be good if the municipality allocates a specific place for us, where we can do our business and avoid bothering residents”.

However, Hayatullah Safari, spokesman for the Municipality, told Pajhwok Afghan News that municipality’s cleanliness crew daily removed and took away garbage from the city.

The authorities and a commission have decided to shift chicken meat sellers to a specific location, Safari said.
