150 govt houses recovered from usurpers in Helmand

LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): As many as 150 government houses were retrieved from usurpers in Marja district of southern Helmand province on Sunday, an official said.

The houses had been built in early 1970s for employees of a government company by the Ministry of Finance, but powerful individuals grabbed them during the past wars.

Maulvi Asmatullah Asim, Marja district chief, told Pajhwok that some individuals had seized the houses during the previous governments and today they wrested them back from their illegal occupants.

He said 52 of the houses were intact and the remaining had been damaged.

According to him, 35000 acres of land had been usurped in Marja district and 80 percent of the land has been recovered and returned to the government.
