Personal enmity: Man killed, 2 women wounded in Nangarhar

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A gunman opened fire on three civilians in Nazian district of eastern Nangarhar province, killing a man and injuring two women, an official said on Tuesday.

The incident happened due personal enmity and the assailant had managed to escape.

Police spokesman Abdul Basir Zabuli told Pajhwok Afghan News the victims were walking when the gunman opened fire at them in Spinazai area on Monday afternoon.

He said: “Shah Mahmood, a resident of the area, was killed and his wife and sister injured in the shooting.”

He added the injured women were evacuated to hospital for treatment by security forces and they were said to be stable condition.

The assailant managed to escape the area, but security forces had launched a manhunt for him, Zabuli said.

According to preliminary information, he said the incident occurred due to personal enmity and further investigation was underway.

Wali Jan, a resident of the area, told Pajhwok the victims were heading home from the city when an armed person opened fire at them.

He added security forces quickly reached the area and evacuated the injured and the dead to hospital.
