Over 900 foreign tourists enter Kunduz via Shir Khan port

KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): More than 900 foreign tourists arrived in northern Kunduz province through Shir Khan port during the last one year, an official said.

Obaidullah Abedi, director of consular affairs at Kunduz foreign office, said 900 foreign tourists from various European, Asian and American countries entered Afghanistan through Shir Khan Port of Kunduz and visited various historical and touristic parts of the country.

He said the number of foreign tourists visiting Afghanistan had unprecedentedly increased during the past one year.

“Alhamdulillah, the number of foreign tourists has increased in the past year, and we have ensured full security for them,” he added.

The foreign tourists hailed stability in the country.

Keshke, a citizen of the Czech Republic, who entered Afghanistan via Shir Khan port for tourism, said: “We came to Kunduz yesterday via Shir Khan. The officials treated us very well. We visited Kunduz and toured the city. The people treated us very well. We have decided to go to Badakhshan province and visit Wakhan.”

Nicholas, an American citizen who came to Afghanistan for the first time for tourism and recreation, said he wanted to know the culture of Afghans and to see historical areas of the country.
