PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): The Education Department of central Logar province says 66 religious seminaries have been opened under its framework for both boys and girls in Pul-i-alam, the provincial capital, and districts.
Education Department spokesman Shapoor Arab told Pajhwok Afghan News the seminaries were opened on the order of the education department leadership. The seminaries include 46 for boys and 20 for girls.
He said 5,833 boys and 1,543 girls were provided with religious education in their villages and 146 male and 20 female teachers were appointed for them.
He added: “Similar religious seminaries are needed in other districts and villages of Logar province as well and the leadership of the education department is trying to approve religious seminaries for other areas.”
Logar residents are also happy that the Ministry of Education has opened dozens of religious seminaries in rural areas.
Bismillah, a resident of Pul-i-Alam, told Pajhwok he was happy that the ministry of education had opened dozens religious madaris in the province, but emphasized that schools should be also opened for girls in the country.
Abdul Rahman, a resident of Mohammad Agha district, told Pajhwok in addition to religious madrasas, the Ministry of Education should address problems like lack of buildings of schools, stationaries and professional teachers.
