Logar seminaries get over 700 new teachers

PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Over 700 new teachers will be appointed in madrassas — religious schools — in central Logar province, an official said on Monday.

Education Department Spokesperson Shahpoor Arab told Pajhwok Afghan News, 712 teachers will be appointed to 159 religious seminaries of Logar province.

To fill these vacant posts of teachers, a test was taken today (Monday) in Pul-i-Alam, the provincial capital.

Successful candidates will be employed in the seminaries of provincial capital Pul-i-Alam city and other districts.

Arab said: “We took the test today, the result of it will be announced soon and the successful teachers will soon start their jobs as teachers in religious seminaries, we have also inaugurated 66 new religious seminaries in Pul-i-Alam city in some other districts where both the girls and boys will attend to study”.

Rahmatullah, a participant of the test told Pajhwok Afghan News, he was happy to take part in this process and he will sincerely serve as teacher if he passes the exam”.

He further urged the Ministry of Education (MoE) to solve the issue of teachers’ shortages in the schools of boys and girls of that province.

But Haji Mahmood, a resident of Baraki Barak district told Pajhwok, if the government does not assign female teachers for the girls’ religious seminaries, most of the residents are not ready to send their daughters to such seminaries.

This is while the education department of Logar had said that 1,200 teachers had been employed for the schools of girls and boys of that province.
