Work to establish chromite stone processing plant begins in Logar

PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Work to establish a chromite stone processing plant has been launched in the Mohammad Agha district of central Logar province.

In this regard, Logar Mines and Petroleum Director Maulvi Naqibullah Furqani told a ceremony that the factory would be established on 1100 square meters of land by ‘Metal Mining’ company at a cost of 105 million afghanis in three months.

He said the plant would have the capacity to process 400 tons of chromite stone per a day and would hire hundreds of people.

Deputy foreign minister for political affairs Abbas Stanikzai was also present in the meeting. He said after the factory’s establishment, there would be no need to transfer chromite stones to another province or country for processing.

He added the factory would provide jobs to unemployed people and earn hundreds of millions of afghanis revenue for the government every year.

A resident of Mohammad Agha district told Pajhwok the plant’s establishment would prevent smuggling and arbitrary digging of chromite stone.

The ‘Metal Mining’ company has won a contract for extracting chromite at 30 square kilometers area in Mohammad Agha district.
