6,500 right-hand-drive vehicles to be issued documents in Kunar

ASADABAD (Pajhwok): The Traffic Department in eastern Kunar province has started issuing documents to 6,500 right-hand-drive vehicles in the province.

The department says it registered 8,300 right-hand-drive cars during the past two years in Kunar and soon they would be issued documents.

Salahuddin Ayubi, traffic manager, told Pajhwok Afghan News: “On the instructions of the Ministry of Interior, we registered 8,300 vehicles in the past two years, licenses and number plates for 6,500 vehicles have arrived.”

He said the registration of new vehicles had been stopped and would be resumed on instructions from the central government.

Meanwhile, drivers of right-hand-drive vehicles in Kunar are happy to be issued documents for their vehicles, but they say that the period of validity of the documents is short and the fee is high.

Mujeeb Rahman, a resident of Mukli area of Asadabad, told Pajhwok: “I have a corolla car and I have registered it with the government. I have also received the license and number plate, but the period of these documents is only three years, We will be happy if we are issued permanent documents.”

Another resident, Musafir Khan, hoped the government would register all undocumented vehicles and issue them permanent documents.

He also said that the process of registering right-hand vehicles should be started again so that all people could register their vehicles.
