ODI World Cup 2023: Afghan squad arrives in India

ATLANTA (Pajhwok): The Afghan national team arrived in India on Tuesday (today) to participate in the 2023 ODI World Cup.

The  Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) said the national team left the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday for India after ten days of training.

ACB Chairman Mirwais Ashraf participated in a meeting before the departure of the team for India.

Ashraf told the squad the Afghan nation had pinned high hopes on them and expected they would bring home laurels by showing their skills in the tournament.

The ODI World Cup is scheduled to commence will start on October 5, 2023 in India and will conclude on November 19.

Ten teams will participate in the biggest ODI extravaganza World — divided into two groups.

Afghan will play two warm up matches against Sri Lanka and South Africa prior to opening their World Cup against Bangladesh on October 7.

Hashmatullah Shahidi (captain), Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran, Riaz Hassan, Rahmat Shah, Najibullah Zadran, Mohammad Nabi, Ikram Alikhil, Azmatullah Omarzai, Rashid Khan, Mujib Zadran, Noor Ahmad Lakanwal, Fazal Haq Farooqi, Abdul Rahman and Naveen Ul Haq are the members of Afghan team.

Gulbadin Naib, Farid Malik and Sharafuddin Ashraf have been included in the line-up as reserve players.
