Afghanistan central to regional countries FP: Qummi

KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan’s neighbors have decided to change situation in Afghanistan through a collective and coordinated initiative, according to top Iranian diplomat on Monday.

Hassan Kazami Qummi, Iran’s Ambassador and Iranian president’s special envoy to Afghanistan, during a media talk after the Moscow format meeting said that Afghanistan remained central for the regional countries and world community Foreign Policy (FP).

Referring to improved economic, security and political situation in Afghanistan, he said: “The countries present at the Moscow meeting agreed that the need to improve the situation in Afghanistan is to form a government that is trusted by the people and remained accountable.”

He stressed over the formation of contact group and said the formation of this group will make the Kabul talks and economic and security cooperation on the borders and within the territory of Afghanistan operational.

The top Iranian diplomat said that Afghan acting government took steps against terrorism and drug trafficking but still threats from the two factors existed.

The 5th Moscow Format Meeting attended by regional countries held in Russia’s Kazan City on Friday.
