5 people publicly whipped in Kandahar

KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Five people have been flogged in public after being convicted to various crimes by the primary court in Spin Boldak district of southern Kandahar province, an official said on Thursday.

Hafiz Haqmal, an official of district, told Pajhwok Afghan News while punishing these people judge of criminal court of the district Mufti Rafiullah talked about the public punishment in Islamic sharia.

Mullah Abdullah Bashir, chief of district administrative also told the people the purpose of Islamic Sharia to is to set limits and prevent negation.

According to him, the Islamic system is ruling in the country the punishment will be given to the criminal in public to serve as a warning to other people.

He called on the people to refrain from crimes and to be committed to all rules of Islam.

This is the first time that criminals are being punished in public in Spin Boldak district since the reestablishment of IEA.

On the other hand, in a statement Kandahar governor house said five people were lashed in public after convicted to various crimes by primary court in amusement park of the district.
