Cut winter power outages & bills, Mansoor urges Iran

ATLANTA (Pajhwok): The acting minister of energy and water has asked Iranian officials to reduce electricity loadshedding and tariffs during the winter for Afghanistan.

During his trip to the neighbouring country, Abdul Latif Mansoor met Tawanir Company Director Arash Kurdi in Tehran.

A statement from the Ministry of Energy and Water said the two sides exchanged views on enhanced bilateral cooperation in the field of energy development.

Kurdi welcomed the acting minister of energy and water and the delegation accompanying him. While pointing to deep relations between Iran and Afghanistan, he stressed the need for energy cooperation.

The acting minister thanked Tawanir Company officials for their hospitality and spoke of improved security in Afghanistan.

Mansoor said this country was ready for greater cooperation in the field of energy.

The minister cited the problem of loadshedding this year and asked Iran to address the issue and lower tariffs for Afghanistan.

Both sides agreed technical officials from needed to continue such meetings in the future as wel.

The deputy prime minister for economic affairs recently paid a  six-day trip to Iran and singed 68 economic and trade agreements with the neighbouring country
