Ministry of Economy rejects IEA interfered in aid distribution

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Economy on Thursday rejected SIGAR chief’s recent claim that the Islamic Emirate interfered in the aid distribution process.

The Ministry of Economy said the caretaker government never followed an interventionist approach in the aid distribution process.

While testifying on Tuesday before Congress, John Sopko said it was unclear how that money was spent and claimed the IEA benefitted from US humanitarian aid to the Afghan people.

In a statement, the Ministry of Economy said such reports were baseless and contrary to the actual developments in Afghanistan.

The ministry emphasized that the Islamic Emirate had always tried to ensure the aid reaches the needy and deserving people in a transparent manner.

The caretaker government never followed an interventionist approach in the aid distribution process but always tried to provide more facilities for international institutions in the aid distribution process.
