Canal worth 7.5m afs put into service in Bamyan City

BAMYAN CITY (Pajhwok): A canal constructed at a cost of 7.5 million afghanis has been put into service in central Bamyan province, an official said on Thursday

Director of Rural Rehabilitation and Development Mullah Ziaullah Khadem told Pajhwok Afghan News the canal had been built in the Foladi area of Bamyan City.

He said the project implemented in the provincial capital was funded by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

He added about 1,000 families would benefit from the 900-metre-long canal, would irrigate 6,000 acres of land.

Ghulam Nabi, a resident of the area, said the implementation of such projects would increase agricultural yield in the city.
