ARCS provides treatment to over 24,000 patients in Torkham

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Over 24,000 patients have been provided with treatment in the past 42 days by the Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) in Torkham, a dry port and crossing point in eastern Nangahar province.

Officials said most of these people were affected by seasonal diseases on their way.

Mawlavi Sediqullah Qureshi Badlon, Deputy Head of the Information and Cultural affairs Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News more than 24,440 patients have been provided with treatment in the past one and a half month.

He added the ARCS mobile health teams have provided the service to the returnees in Torkham.

Dr. Abdul Qayyoum, one of the mobile health team head, said besides other essential health services gynecology services was also provided to the relevant patients.

He added: “Our services are normal OPD (healthy patients), obstetrics and gynecology services are also provided, we also have an active vaccination department.”

Officials said returnees have been provided with all facilities in every area and efforts are underway to address problems on time.
