Russian coupled killed in Badakhshan jet crash

KABUL (Pajhwok): Two of the six people on board a private jet that crashed in northeastern Afghanistan have been killed, confirms the Russian ambassador in Kabul.

The Falcon 10 jet went down in Badakhshan province on Saturday night, killing two of those aboard, Dmitry Zhirnov was quoted as saying by TASS news agency.

“I have just returned from Kabul’s airport, where we met the four survivors of the plane crash. There were six people aboard,” he said.

“Unfortunately, two of them died,” Zhirnov added. The survivors are said to be crewmembers. The victims were identified as a Russian couple.

“This morning, the Afghan search and rescue team airlifted the survivors by helicopter to Faizabad,, from where they were sent to Kabul on a special flight,” he continued.
