Japan donates 6 ambulances worth $450,000 to Kandahar

KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Japan has donated six ambulances worth $450,000 to the Public Health Department of southern Kandahar province, an official said on Saturday.

​Kandahar Public Health director Mullah Adam Akhund told a ceremony in this regard said Japan provided the ambulances in technical cooperation with the United Nations Offices for Project Services (UNOPS).

He said the ambulances would be used to evacuate injured and sick people during emergency incidents to hospitals.

“Each of the new ambulances is worth $75,000, it would help us a lot in reaching emergency incidents in a timely and efficient manner,” Akhund added.

​Meanwhile, Dr. Abu Bakr said these ambulances had all facilities for patients.

“These ambulances have electric machine, an oxygen tank, cardiac arrest machine, three types of patient transport and other necessary equipment”.

​Japan has donated 13 ambulances to Afghanistan and six of them to Kandahar,
