7,879 vulnerable people distributed food, clothes in some provinces

KABUL (Pajhwok): Nearly 7,880 vulnerable people in northern Jawzjan and eastern Laghman and Nangarhar provinces have been distributed food items and winter clothes, officials said on Wednesday.

Jawzjan Education Director Mawlavi Mohammad Tahir Jawad said 4,833 students of community classes have been distributed winter clothes — jakets, shoes and cloves — in cooperation with Assistance to Humanity in Afghanistan.

Separately, 500 returnees in Jawzjan province distributed food items.

Da Mullah Amanullah Talha, Head of the Refugees Department, said 500 families who recently returned from Iran and Pakistan have been distributed food items in cooperation with Bonyad-i-Hamkar Organisation.

In Nangarhar and Laghman provinces, around 1,000 farmers provided with animal foods assistance.

Mawlavi Mohammad Wali Hassan, head of the Agriculture Department, said each farmer was provided 200 kilograms of animal foods today.

The assistance was arranged by the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).

Elsewhere, hundreds of families have been distributed with food times in Nangarhar province.

Mawlavi Qismatullah Mubarez, head of the Rural Rehabilitation Development Department, said 1,564 families had been distributed food items by the World Food Programme (WFP).
