Afghan-Iran joint chamber of commerce talks trade expansion

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghan-Iran Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry held a meeting to discuss expanding ties with regional countries.

Mohammad Yunas Momand, head of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said Afghanistan and Iran enjoyed cultural, religious, economic and transit commonalities and emphasized expanded ties with regional countries, especially with Iran, the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) said in a statement.

Momand declared Afghan traders were ready to export cotton to regional and international markets.

He also insisted on resumption of exports and imports through railway with Iran and asked Iran for a subsidy (a form of funding) in the export of Afghanistan’s coal to Turkey.

Momand called improved security, reduced corruption, ban on poppy cultivation as good opportunities for investment in Afghanistan and asked businesspeople of both countries to cooperate in various sectors.

Deputy Commerce and Industry Minister Maulvi Qudratullah Jamal also called Iran a good friend and neighbor country of Afghanistan and emphasized development of commercial, economic and transit ties between the two countries.

He assured all kind cooperation from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) in creating facilities for domestic and foreign traders and investors for investment in Afghanistan.

Deputy Iranian ambassador for Afghanistan Syed Hussain Mortazavi appreciated ACCI for organizing this meeting and said the Iranian delegation’s trip to Afghanistan was aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and also assured facilities for Afghan traders in Chabahar port.

Eng. Syed Javed Buran, an official of ACCI, asked Iranian delegation to provide more facilities for Afghan traders in Chabahar port.
