BAMYAN CITY (Pajhwok): Heavy snowstorms have closed highways in central Bamyan province, officials said on Monday.
Public Works Director Eng. Hafizullah Niamati told Pajhwok Afghan News most of the roads in Bamyan had been closed for traffic due to snowfall and storms.
The highways linking Bamyan City with Kabul, Daikundi, Yakawlang-Punjab, Waras- Pul-i-Bandshoi, Saighan-Aaq Rubat have been shut.
The director put the thickness of the snow at 10-20 centimetres, saying the road-clearing process was yet to be initiated.
Some of the passenger vehicles traveling from Kabul to Bamyan are stuck in Hajigak Pass due to the snowstorm, with highway maintenance teams working to clean the routes.
