13 stranded passengers rescued in Jawzjan

SHIBERGHAN/ FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): More than a dozen passengers stranded in snow in the Aqcha district of northern Jawzjan province have been rescued and the Kabul-Ghor highway reopened in western Ghor province.

Jawzjan police chief Hafizullah Pahlawan told Pajhwok Afghan News 13 passengers stuck in snow in the Kohistanat area of the district were rescued by police personnel.

Pahlawan said the rescued people had suffered no harm and were in good health.

In Ghor, the snow-clogged highway to Kabul, which had been closed for traffic, reopened Wednesday, said the director of public works.

Maulvi Abdul Karim Ayub Shoaib said: “Our snow-clearing teams have managed to open the Ghor-Bamyan road, which had been closed for the past four days due to heavy snowfall and storms.”
