50 school buildings reconstructed in Laghman this year

MEHTHARLAM (Pajhwok): About 50 school buildings have been reconstructed and one new building constructed in eastern Laghman province during the past one year, an official said on Tuesday.

Education Director Maulvi Shah Jahan Sajid told Pajhwok Afghan News about 50 school buildings were restored and a new building was constructed for a school at a cost of 63 million afghanis with financial support of international organizations and government budget in Mehtharlam and all districts during the past one year.

Meanwhile, some teachers and students in Laghman expressed happiness over the reconstruction of damaged school buildings.

Ahmadullah Niazi, a teacher in Alingar district, said students previously studied under the open sky, but now a new building for their school had been constructed.

He concluded they planned to construct new buildings for schools whose students attended classes under the open skies.
