MoEW predicts flash floods, rising rivers’ water level

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Energy and Water (MoEW) has predicted relatively heavy rains, flash floods and rising water level in rivers over the next three days and asked residents to move to safety.

MoEW on Sunday wrote on its X handle that from Sunday to Tuesday, relatively heavy rain with flash floods and rising water levels were expected in some areas of the country.

The ministry wrote: “There is possibility of heavy rains and flash floods in Kabul and Helmand regions and of floods due to rainfall, snow melting and rising water levels in rivers in Herat, Farah, Khashrud, Helmandi, Arghandab, Tirinkot, Ghazni, Paktia, Paktika, Khost, Logar, Kabul, Maidan Wardak, Panjsher, Laghman, Kunar, Nuristan, Faryab, Jawzjan, Balkh, Samangan, Baghlan, Takhar and Badakhshan provinces.

The MoEW asked residents of the mentioned areas to stay away from rivers and to inform residents of downstream areas about flooded rivers in order to prevent human casualties.
