1 child killed, 2 wounded in separate incidents

JALALABAD/ PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Two children have been wounded in a blast caused by an old mortar shell in eastern Nangarhar province and an 11-year-old boy was found dead in central Logar province, officials said on Sunday.

Sediqullah Qurashi, an official of Nangarhar Information and Culture department, told Pajhwok Afghan News a boy and a girl were wounded in the explosion in Hesarak district late on Saturday.

He said security forces rushed to the area and evacuated the injured to Jalalabad regional hospital.

Shukar Khan, an inhabitant of the area, said the children were playing with the unexploded device when it went off.

Separately, an 11-year-old boy was found dead in Baraki Barak district of Logar, police said.

Police spokesman Maulvi Ahmadullah said Nasratullah son of Niamatullah, resident of Chak district of Maidan Wardak had gne missing on 22th of Ramadan.

The child had mental problems, his family members said.
