Nangarhar rival families end 10-year old feud

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A 10-year old feud between two families in Shinwari district of eastern Nangarhar province has come to an end and turned into friendship, thanks to tribal elders.

Originated from a dispute over land ownership, the enmity had claimed three lives from both sides.

Shinwari district administrative chief Qari Mohammad Imran told the reconciliation gathering that the ten-year old feud between Hazrat Omar and Pir Mohammad families in Klawkatili area stood resolved.

He said the enmity had claimed three lives.

The members of both the families hugged and pardoned each other, promising to live in peace and brotherhood.

According to the district chief, local elders and religious scholars started mediating between the two families some time ago in coordination with district officials.

Harzat Omar, head of one of the reconciling families, they lived in constant fear for ten years.

Haji Pir Mohammad, head of another family, appreciated the mediators and requested them to resolve more such enmities.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Hazrat Jan Hanafi, head of Ulema Council, also asked the people to live in atmosphere of peace and brotherhood.
