Pakistan again shuts Torkham crossing for patients

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Pakistan on Thursday once again closed the Torkham crossing for patients and passengers for the next three days, say officials in eastern Nangarhar province.

However, the key crossing point remains open for the transit cargo movement, provincial authorities say.

Sediqullah Qureshi, an official of the Information and Culture Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News Pakistan wanted to shift some offices to new buildings and had shut the route on a temporary basis.

The official said the key crossing point had been closed for three days, but the gate would stay open for transit in both directions,

Torkham Commissar Mullah Abdul Jabbar Hikmat, meanwhile, urged the people not to travel across the Durand Line over the next three days.
