Russian investment in mining, dam projects discussed

KABUL (Pajhwok): Acting Minister of Commerce and Industry Nooruddin Azizi and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk have discussed various topics, including enhanced trade between Kabul and Moscow.

Russian Director- General of Railways Sergei Pavlov and Deputy Minister of Transport Dmitry Zverev were also present at the meeting, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) wrote on X.

The two sides discussed enhancing and balancing bilateral trade, preferential tariffs for Afghan goods and Russia investments in Afghanistan’s mining and water dam projects.

Afghanistan’s share in the North-South international transport corridor, reducing the cost of transferring assets via the Russian railways and removing tariffs on raw materials also came up for discussion.

The two sides also agreed on holding a business conference, arranging a trip of Afghan delegates to the ports of Astrakhan and Makhachkala and organising an exhibition of Afghan products in Moscow.
