Turkish Airlines resumes flights to Kabul after 3 years

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Turkish Airlines has resumed flights to Afghanistan after a hiatus of three years, media reports said on Tuesday.

The first flight of the airlines arrived at the Kabul International Airport today (Tuesday) morning, the Radio and Television of Afghanistan (RTA) reported.

The airlines would operate four flights a week between Istanbul and Kabul on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

The carrier suspended its flights to the country after the takeover of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in mid-August 2021.

Two months before the Turkish Airlines announcement, Fly Dubai and Air Arabia had also restarted flights to Afghanistan.

Earlier, caretaker government officials repeatedly said Afghanistan’s airspace was safe for all types of flights and all possible services were provided at airports.
