School building worth $300,000 completed in Herat

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Construction work on a school building has been completed at a cost of 300,000 US dollars in Injil district of western Herat province, an official said on Thursday.

Education Director Maulvi Rahmatullah Jabar told a ceremony in this regard that his department had prioritized construction and repairing of school buildings and providing necessary facilities.

He said the school building in Injil district was constructed with financial support of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

“The Education Department is trying to construct buildings for schools which lack buildings in the province”, he added.

On the other hand, residents of the district expressed pleasure over completion of the school building.

They asked the education department to provide more facilities for their children in the education sector.

Maulvi Khalil Ahmad, an influential figure of the district, told Pajhwok Afghan News hundreds of children remained deprived of education due to lack of schools.

He said all people were responsible to protect public welfare projects. He added they would try to encourage parents to send their children to school in the district.

The newly constructed building has eight classrooms, four administrative rooms and other necessary equipment.
