50 killed, 100 injured in Logar accidents last year

PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): At least 50 people were killed and around 100 wounded in 180 traffic accidents last year in central Logar province, says a police official.

Police spokesman Maulvi Ahmadullah Anas told a press conference on Wednesday that 180 traffic accident took place last year in Logar.

He said the accidents took the lives of 50 people, including women and children, and left around 100 more injured.
According to Anas, the accidents happened on the Kabul-Logar and Logar-Gardez highways. Most of the mishaps were caused byreckless driving.

Farooq Jan, a driver using the Kabul-Gardez highway, confirmed most of the traffic accidents occurred due to high speed and carelessness.

He asked the police headquarters and traffic management authorities to deny amateurish applicants driving licences.
