Kabul, Tehran confer on expanding relations

KABUL (Pajhwok): Acting Foreign Minister of Iran has announced his country’s readiness to cooperate with Afghanistan in resolving its challenges and moving towards development.

Ali Bagheri Kani, acting foreign minister of Iran, held a telephonic conversation with his Afghan counterpart Maulvi Amir Khan Muttaqi, according to Mehr News Agency.

Both sides discussed Tehran-Kabul relations and the situation in war-ravaged Gaza.

Kani called for joint action by the Islamic countries within the framework of the Islamic Cooperation Organisation (OIC) to put pressure on the “Zionist regime to end crimes against the people of Gaza”.

The Iranian diplomat also highlighted ties between the two nighbouring countries, announcing Tehran’s readiness to support Afghanistan and address challenges it was facing.

For his part, Muttaqi called ties between the two countries good, and hoped to strengthen mutual cooperation in the future.
