LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Two campaigners for presidential contender Gul Agha Sherzai were injured on Sunday in a gun attack in southern Helmand province, an official said.
The governor’s spokesman, Omar Zwak, told Pajhwok Afghan News the two were injured when unknown gunmen opened fire at their vehicle on the Helmand-Kandahar road in Dorahi area on Saturday evening.
The two campaigners for Sherzai, a former governor, were traveling to Helmand as part of the election campaign.
Shahidullah Himmat, an eyewitness, told Pajhwok Afghan News he saw some armed men started firing at a vehicle.
It appeared later that the car’s occupants injured in the attack were campaign workers of Sherzai, he said.
The injured were rushed to Emergency-run hospital in Lashkargah, where doctors said their condition was improving.
There has been no claim of responsibly so far.
