KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): A woman was killed on her wedding night in southwestern Nimroz province and a six-year-old boy was sexually abused in northern Jawzjan province, prompting rights activists to demand investigation and punishment for the perpetrators.

Jawzjan Police Chief Col. Abdul Wahid Wijdan told Pajhwok Afghan News the six-year-old boy was sexually assaulted by a young man in the Bala Murdyan district on Saturday morning.

“The victim’s father reported the incident this morning trough telephone but the area where the incident happened is under militants’ control and the perpetrators have sought refuge there,” he said.

Wijdan vowed that security forces would investigate the issue one way or the other and arrest the perpetrators.

Maghfirat Samimi, representative of the Afghanistaninfo-icon Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC), expressed her concern over the incidents and alleged those involved in such incidents often escaped punishment and were freed from jails. “If such incidents are not stopped, I see the future very dangerous for children,” she said.

Separately, a woman was axed to death on her wedding night in Nimroz province. Crime Branch Chief Sher Hassan Sherzad said: “The midnight incident happened in Zaranj City on Friday night.”

Womeninfo-icon Affairs Director MalalaiAhmadi said the bride was killed by her husband, who had been arrested and being investigated. She said her department wanted the judiciary to punish the murderer according to the law.
