Fauzia Kofi nominated for Noble Peace Prize

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Afghan female politician and member of the government negotiating team Fauzia Kofi has been nominated for the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize by the Norwegian Peace Council.

Kofi has served as member of Afghanistaninfo-icon’s parliament and is part of the delegation representing the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in the ongoing talks with the Talibaninfo-icon in Doha. She is also leading the Movement for Change party. 

Some of the worldinfo-icon’s most famous personalities and organizations have been suggested a possible nominees for this year’s award.

The Afghan government has welcomed Kofi’s nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Presidential deputy spokesperson Sediq Sediqi said: “Kofi is a proud member of the Afghanistan’s negotiating team and her nomination reflects admiration of her work for peace and womeninfo-icon’s rights.”
