In past 24 hours, 64 people contract coronavirus

KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 64 new positive coronavirus cases have been registered in Afghanistan in the last 24 hours, taking the nation’s tally to 39,484, the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) said on Tuesday.

In a statement, the ministry said 372 individuals underwent tests and 34 of them were diagnosed with the virus during the period.

At least 35 cases were recorded in Kabulinfo-icon, 28 in Herat and one each in Kandahar provinces.

About 98 people were recovered from the pandemic during the period, pushing the number of those recovered to 32,977.

One person died in the past 24 hours from the virus that has so far killed 1,467 people.

However, acting Minister of Public Healthinfo-icon Jawad Ahmad Osmani told a news conference on Monday that the pandemic was under control in the country. He had said they were fully prepared to fight a second wave of coronavirus in the country.
