MAZAR-I-SHARIF (PAN): Three children were killed and two others injured in a blast in the northern province of Balkh on Tuesday, officials said.
The explosion took place at 8:30am when the children were playing with unexploded ordnance in the Karta Noor-i-Khuda area in the 8th police district of Mazar-i-Sharif.
At least three minors were killed and two others wounded in the incident, acting deputy police chief, Dad Mohammad Wafa, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Haji Khuda-i-Dad, a resident of the area who took the victims to hospital in his car, said the blast resulted from a bomb. The explosion happened in front of an under-construction house, he added.
Two children were killed on the spot a third succumbed to his injuries at hospital, he said. No one has so far claimed responsibility for the blast.
