KABUL): Rates of liquefied gas and flour decreased in Kabul during the outgoing week, dealers said on Thursday.
A kilogram of gas was sold for 41 afghanis (less than a dollar) against its last week’s rate of 44afs, a dealer told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Ahmad Mujtaba linked the fall in retail price to a drop in the international market. However, he said the commodity’s whole sale rate increased.
A gas seller in the Kart-i-Seh locality, Mohammad Shafique, put the rate of one kg gas at 48afs (wholesale) against its last week’s price of 45afs.
A worker at a filling station in the Mirwais Maidan area, Hidyatullah, said one litre of diesel was priced at 59afs, same as last week. But the petrol rate increased by one afghani from 58afs to 59afs a litre.
Rates of other essential commodities, excluding flour, stayed unchanged during the week. The head of Food Traders Union, Fazl Rahman, said a 50-kg sack of Pakistani flour accounted for 930afs against its last week’s rate of 940afs.
A 50-kg bag of Brazilian sugar cost 2030afs, a similar amount of Pakistani rice sold for 2300afs and the rate of a 5-kg Koh-i-Noor ghee cane worked out at 335afs.
