KANDAHAR CITY (PAN): Four people have been killed in two separate incidents of violence in the southern province of Kandahar, the governor’s office said on Saturday.
Two fighters were killed during a clash between security forces and Taliban insurgents in the Spin Gara area of Arghistan district on Friday, a statement from the governor’s office, said.
It said a machinegun and a Kalashnikov assault rifle were recovered from the dead militants.
Meanwhile, two people were killed when a civilian vehicle struck a roadside bomb in the Syed Jan village on the outskirts of Kandahar city, the statement said. Police discovered three more bombs planted at the site, it added.
Meanwhile, militants shot and injured a government official in the city, within Police District 1, the governor’s office said. Police arrested one of the two attackers.
