Ghaziabad district chief abducted

He said district chief Qayomzai from Asmar district was kidnapped along with his son and two body guards around 10:00 am by Taliban on his way to Ghaziabad district center.

Local tribal elders are making every effort to find clues as to their whereabouts.

The Taliban has not claimed responsibility.

Abduction of government officials and local elders is very common in Kunar province. In recent months, 27 people have been kidnapped in separate incidents there, including the manager of the provincial vocational training center and 18 tribal elders. All the victims have since been released.
