MAIDAN SHAHR: (PAN-led troops in separate operations in central Maidan Wardak province, officials said on Wednesday.
Shahidullah Shahid, the provincial governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers conducted an operation in Chak district on Tuesday night, killing five militants.
He also said that a solider was also wounded in the operation.
Elsewhere in the province, Afghan and foreign forces arrested 11 insurgents in an operation in the Nirkh district of the province, he added.
Mohammad Hazrat Janan, the provincial council head, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the operation was conducted in the Omarkhel area of the district. He did not know whether the detainees were civilians or insurgents.
The International Security Assistance Force (ISAF (HIA), led by Gulbadin Hekmatyar.
A statement from the multinational force said that several insurgents were detained. However, it did not explain whether or not the HIA commanders were among the detainees.
Shahid said that Taliban had killed a woman for working with an NGO in the Syedabad district. He did not provide further information about the incident. The Taliban have not yet commented on the murder.
