KABUL on Tuesday confirmed they had set free five abducted Bangladeshi workers in northern Balkh province.
The insurgents abducted eight Bangladeshi citizens working for a foreign firm eight months ago. One of them was killed during the abduction and two others were released soon after their kidnapping, but the remaining five were held captive.
In a statement, the Taliban said the Bangladeshis worked for a Turkish company and were captured by them.
The statement further said the remaining five men were released after they agreed not to work or cooperate with foreign forces. They were released in deference to the holy month of Ramazan, the statement said.
